The Eventful 23rd Birthday :)

After completing my undergraduate studies for almost three months, I headed back to Kuching for my convocation. Meeting my BFFS once again, to enjoy my Kuching cravings, going back to where I once lived in…. Gosh! I am so excited!!!!

Some of my convocation pictures. 3 years of memorable memories, new friends, new experience, living away from home….. some of the people here deserves my word of appreciation making my studying experience in Kuching such a wonderful reminiscence which I will NEVER forget *soBz*

Coincidentally, convo fell on my 23rd birthday which makes it a more eventful affair for me. Convo also, was an emotional occurrence to me. The ceremony began with the university’s anthem- reminds me of my first week arriving in an alien place where we were force to learn how to sing it during the Orientation Week. Funny but it feels like I just entered uni but I was standing there in the hall waiting for my turn to receive my scroll.

Dr. E- the much spoken of Mr Supervisor for my FYP :) If it wasn’t because of his constant guidance, I might not even have graduated.

At the end of convo, I was surprised with the “Ralph Chrisy Award”. Your’s truly is named as the Best Student for the graduating year 2008 :) Best in skipping lectures, best in sleeping in classes, best in being lazy, best in karaoke-ing on weekends, best in not studying for exams, best in just having fun and playing around. I HONESTLY did not see it coming because I am REALLY not a “good student” candidate. Not modest, but those who knows me, they will know how I behaved in class. Anyways, meet Prof. Shaz, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business, Unimas :)

12 August 2008 was very memorable to me. I didn’t expect my 23rd birthday will be such an eventful one. We ended the day with a dinner celebrating my 23rd :)

UNIMAS’ Bowling Center

chelsea-0016

The university’s bowling center has started its operation more than a year ago. But due to the fact that it is located on the other side of the campus thus, I’ve never been there before.

The girls and I decided to make a trip there just before we graduate this May and since we do not have lectures on Monday, we went earlier this afternoon. (By the way, I’ve only got lectures on Tuesday noons and Thursday mornings! *grins*)

And so… the place! The place is decently fine for students to bowl, I’d say. Prices are reasonable-of course, they’ve got students prices if you present your matric cards to them. They’ve even got a little cafeteria next to the alley. (I didn’t go check the menu, though) And, they’re open 7 days a week from 9am-5pm daily for students. Post 5 pm is only for the university’s staffs only, I was told.

We took a stroll near the lake and fed fishes, too! :) The girls and I bought an approximate of 3kgs of expired breads from a nearby bakery to feed the fishes in the lake. And I just found out about the kayak facilities in the campus. I wish I was not so ignorant previously so that I could have learn how to enjoy the campus’s facilities for the students. Not until when I am 1 month away from graduating only I find out about all the fun in campus. *LoLs*

Life Post Graduation

Talks about post graduation plans been such a heat around me lately. Peers, family, friends- practically everyone is asking and talking about it. With my lackadaisical and not bothered attitude, I always thought that, things will eventually turn out the way they would be and there is no point worrying about it. It is life anyway. Ups and downs bound to happen. Although I admit I get annoyed most times being asked about my plans (cause I DO NOT have one) but I will normally smile pleasantly and answer them. p/s: to those who are reading… YES! I am very irritated by your so-called “concerns”. I am not competing with you and I am living my own life. So what if you get a job first and me later? Does that make you more outstanding? By all means, go ahead and I wish you the best of luck, because I am not in a hurry to serve the labor world! At this point of time, I just want to graduate!!! But anyways back to where I was, often in a very sarcastic manner to brush them off that topic I will reply by saying:

No 1- either “I WILL GET MARRIED!!”
No 2- or “I WILL BE MY FATHER’S DAUGHTER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!”
No 3- and lastly “WHY NOT I DEPEND ON YOU?”

And so, to “those” of you, you might be interested to know that I received an e-mail earlier from CIMB Group. It went:

Greetings Choong Xin Yi,
It is our pleasure to touch base with you again. We would like to thank you for serving your internship with us and we are sure that you have kept yourself posted on the happenings of the CIMB Group.

Director
Group Corporate Resources

I was serving intern in CIMB Investment Bank earlier last year and I thought it was going to do my resume good in some ways. Just when I thought that I would take a 3 months break post graduation to relax myself before staring to work, I got this! Mum told me it is a good start for my career, but….

I WANT MY 3 MONTHS GRADUATION HOLIDAY!! *ARGH*

-Kok Shyong, if you are reading, I need your advice whether or not I should join CIMB’s MT programme-

And just when I was all prepared to graduate, booking all tickets for convo and all, Mr. P from Integration class made a remark “Are you really sure you will be able to graduate this semester? Check your FYP status properly. Don’t be TOO sure!”

*wtf* And now my heart goes pumping again… (And I thought I was all done with FYP!) Apparently 30% of the final year students could not graduate every year because of their d*mn FYP!!!

FYP Date with Dr. E.

Earlier this afternoon, I met Dr. E for a brief update on my FYP. I know I am way behind time but….

Dr.E : I am sure you realise how late you are, don’t you?
Me: Am I? (A very silly manner)
Dr. E : You’ve got 2 more chapters to go…. and 2 weeks to your presentation!!!

*woots*

I got taken back for a moment before I came back to realisation how laid back I was! I just want to graduate in time! Wish me luck! *sighs*

How I Burn Time in Kuching

boulevard

Source: SooChew.com

The girls and I went to the newly opened Boulevard Shopping Complex in Kuching. The mall was opened just a few days before I came back to Kuching. Due to the fact that, the city was lacking of entertainment, the opening of the mall created massive traffic congestion *LOL* Coincidently, it was the opening of another mall named The Spring which is opened today as well. So the girls and I decided to take a bet with the hope that the crowd would be transferred to the other mall.

They certainly did not understand why I was so eager to go to Boulevard when compared to those back in the West, we’ve got more interesting ones. But still, I wanted to go!!! *LOL* I had fun, I must say :)
